Q&A: What are some good SLR lenses for my Canon?

Question by Katie: What are some good SLR lenses for my Canon?
I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and I am wondering what some pretty good lenses are? I want a big zoom. And, I am not looking to spend very much right now, so preferably 0 and under at the moment. But don’t let the price stop you from telling me a good lense from a bad! Any good flashes as well? Thank you!

Ken gives great suggestions and results on Canon and Nikon products. I have a Nikon D200 and was very happy with the 18-200 ED/VR zoom lens suggestion. Good Luck! Click!

5200mm Canon Lens World’s MOST powerful Super telephoto EF FD (updated upload)

READ!! Canon 5200mm F14 Prime Lens. The world’s largest dedicated SLR Super Telephoto lens. Extremely rare. Made in Japan. Most probably a government ordered cold war spy tool – it certainly wasn’t designed to look at the stairs with the use of it’s ND filters… It uses a mirror & lens combination. The front lens is massive. Rear drop-in filters can be used. •Focal Length: 5150mm •Exposure Control: Light quantity is controlled with the use of built-in ND filters, corresponding to f/14, f/16, f/22, f/32 •Minimum Object Distance: 120 meters (Approx 393 feet!) •Size: 500mm(wide) x 600mm(high) x 1890mm(deep) [20x24x75.6] •Weight: 100kg (220 lbs) without stand. From a Canon Flyer: “This is the only ultra-telephoto lens in the world capable of taking photographs of objects 18 to 32 miles away (30km to 52kms away). Having a focal length of 5200mm, Canon Mirror Lens 5200mm can obtain one hundred times as large an object image as that of a 50mm lens.” “For focusing this mounted or fixed lens on an extremely distant object, two aiming telescopes are set on the side of the lens barrel, and the entire lens is placed on a rigid stand which rotates smoothly. Minimizing the overall length had been a big problem in designing this lens. However, the Catadioptric system that is applied to the other two Canon mirror lenses (Canon 800mm f3.8 & 2000mm f11) has succeeded in reducing it down to one third of the nominal focal length. In general focal length and optical aberration increase with

Q&A: 62 mm filter fits what canon slr lenses?

Question by manav: 62 mm filter fits what canon slr lenses?
i have a pic of a canon slr with a zoom attached to it. i dont know anything about the zoom lense.
the only piece of information i have is that slr is a canon T-50 and the Filter Size of that Zoom is
62 mm. Can some one please advise giving me a list of possible Zoom Lenses out of which one could be the one which is attached to this T-50 Pic. I could search and find that Sigma DG 28-300 is one of them, but the pic of Sigma DG 28-300 does not look like the one which is attached to the T-50. Thanks for your help and expertise! sincerely – Manav M

Follow this link and look under the specification of each Canon lens. The filter thread size is listed there.

Here is one that uses a 77 mm lens.

AG-HVX200 with 35mm SLR Lens

Check out this video for a better test with the same camera: www.youtube.com We tested the HVX with the adapter for 35mm SLR lenses, I believe we used a 50mm here. We shot it 1080/24p on DVCPRO HD straight to aa firestore. This camera is amazing. Once you get all the accessories on there, it becomes a huge camera, at least twice the weight.

Can my Canon Rebel XSi 450D use Manual SLR lenses?

Question by Caleb: Can my Canon Rebel XSi 450D use Manual SLR lenses?
I’ve heard I can buy an adapter to use my manual slr’s lenses with my dslr Canon Rebel XSi. If so, where can I get these adapters?

Answer by Pooky
It may fit, but that is about it. There is no communication between the lens and the camera at all. There is no auto focus. No auto aperture adjustment. And you may have to use what is called, “stop down metering”.

By all means, this is what it looks like http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/674547-REG/Cinevate_Inc_CNADNA000021_Canon_EOS_to_Nikon.html#reviews (for Nikon to Canon)

How do I clean my Canon SLR camera and lenses?

Question by jleigh: How do I clean my Canon SLR camera and lenses?
I have a XSi camera and two lenses.

Answer by Michael
I assume your talking about the actual optics rather than the casing.

Remember if you left your camera in a cupboard until this time next year and took a photo, the quality would be exactly the same as if you took one now. You don’t need to clean it for the hell of it. Really the only time it needs to be cleaned is if you have been swapping lenses in many locations or just using or leaving it in bad conditions. Rain, snow, beaches etc…

That said you can buy real cleaning kits with instructions and all the necessary guidance. These kits will include things like Residual Oil Remover, MicroFiber Cloths, Air-Cans and all sorts of fancy stuff.

Here’s a link to a couple:

Hope this helps :)
